Barthel -1.5 (sets) vs. Kerber - Preview

All German clash in QF of WTA Copenhagen match with Mona Barthel to face Angelique Kerber. I see the younger player to be more dominant today for several reasons, large number of weapons. First is her great accuracy when hitting the ball, excellent timing and moves coordination, even better serve, varried. Then favourable head to head score because Barthel won the only mutual match earlier this year at Hobart also on hardcourt 60 76. Also this week performance in Denmark, Barthel won with no real problems against Brianti and Larsson, but Kerber fought hard in both first and second round to come back from 0-1 down on sets against Keothavong and Foretz Gacon. Barthel should be more fresh because she had 1 more day to rest and she should be in total control of the match because she usually make more winning shots from powerful and well placed forehands, Kerber will be in defence and stay back behind the baseline with less aggressive shots that would not cause problems to the one who will dictate tempo. If you look in those players profiles and past matches, you will see that Barthel won her majority of matches in straight sets and failed to win in decisive set, compared to Kerber which won many matches in third set and clearly lost the matches when she was outclassed so if the favorite will win today I believe she will do in 2 sets. My call is 2-0 win for the most talented and higher potential player in this German battle.
