Rayo Vallecano vs. Atletico Madrid - Preview

Rayo is doing quite well this season and they are above the relegation line although they were touted among the relegation contenders before the start. Kudos to them, they are playing an entertaining football and they don’t bunker themselves in defense, no matter the opposition. As unexpected as it may seem, they have the 4^th attack in the league, after Real, Barca and Valencia. This didn’t help them much tough, since their defense is quite terrible, their main strength being from the midfield up. They will have to deal with a lot of absences for tonight’s game, with Diego Costa, Pulido and Joel being ineligible to play due to the loan agreement with Atletico, while Michel, Pereira, Fuego and Labaka are out due to injury.

Atletico is having quite a bad season but the team started to look better  since Diego Simeone took charge. Even if they are coming after 2 consecutive defeats, they are still a team to be considered and their attacking potential should be a threat for any Primera team. Miranda, Mario Suarez and Salvio are all back from suspension  and Simeone will almost have a full squad to choose from.

Rayo is an all or nothing team and this can be easily seen just by looking at their previous results. They can win by a big margin or lose in the same way, one thing is sure: they will attack. Atletico needs to bounce back and its quality players upfront should be too much for Rayo’s naïve defense. All in all, I expect a highly entertaining affair and at least 3 goals on the menu tonight.
