FC Oss – Go Ahead Eagles
Oss may finally play again. They played just game in the year 2010, as all other matches were
postponed. That one game brought them a surprising draw on home soil against Volendam, but we’re
now in a phase in which Oss can’t be happy with draws anymore. It’s two minutes to twelve, there’s
only one relegation spot left and Oss is on it. They’re together with Emmen five to seven points away
from a safe position, and although they’ve three games in hand (including one with Emmen) there’s
some reason to panic. Oss has plenty of players out or very doubtful, and with a homegame against
title candidates GAE the chances on three points are pretty limited. Oss faces some pretty important
weeks and definitely needs a winning streak to get out of trouble, but I’ll eat my hat if it starts here
against Go Ahead Eagles.
GAE must take revenge for Friday’s result. On home soil they played a good game against a pretty
strong Volendam, but with 0-0 at fulltime it was especially GAE getting too little from that game. It
was their first match since their win in the quarter finals of the cup, and therefore the expectations
were pretty high. GAE improved their squad in January significantly with the signings of Jansen and
De Groot, but against Volendam it didn’t result in three points. During the first thirty minutes of the
game things were pretty level and both sides created some good chances, but during the last hour
GAE had the initiative and controlled the game. Creating chances wasn’t the problem, but GAE simply
didn’t score. Here at Oss they really need to take three points, otherwise they can give up the run for
the championship title.
I don’t think Oss will survive here, but I’m not getting very warm of the -0,75 handicap and the 1.95
price. GAE should win, but they play from their own organisation and huge wins are rare at them. Oss
at home isn’t the easiest fixture, and for that reason the price must be really special to trust them
here – which isn’t the case.
Oss has Quekel, Geurts, Van de Sande, Galata, Guvenc and Arends out. GAE misses Van der Biezen
and Parnela.
