RKC Waalwijk – NEC Nijmegen
February 7, 14h30 CET
RKC’s situation is getting worse and worse. After some good displays and after taking some points
they’re in bad weather again, and after losing at Willem II last weekend they were defeated this
midweek as well. On homesoil they fought for their chances against Feyenoord, but the visitors turned
out to be more experienced to win games like these and without playing good they left with the
victory (0-1). RKC is working hard to get results, but they’re lacking fine form and are coming short to
collect some points. Against NAC, Willem II and Feyenoord they were never outplayed and maybe
even deserved a little more, but they didn’t convince that much either. RKC struggles, is on a losing
streak but didn’t get outplayed in a single match, but their chances to avoid relegation are getting
smaller every week.
NEC badly needed three points last weekend, to get some breathing space. For weeks their football
was getting better and better, but the results disappointing. NEC dropped on the table to the
seventeenth place, and last week’s match with Sparta was really crucial to get out of trouble for a
while. And they succeeded in that. Definitely not in a convincing way (the winner was scored in the
very last second of injury time), but NEC was the only team who deserved all three points. Unlike their
recent games they didn’t show good football this time, and especially in attack NEC was pretty
harmless. It had much to do with the ultra defensive formation Sparta played with, who were just
playing for the draw. NEC took three important points, but they’re still in serious trouble and can’t
afford to drop some points at RKC.
Tricky game. Both teams really need a win here, and although NEC is slight favourite I wouldn’t trust
them here at 1.80 for level ball. There’s nothing wrong with the current line and odds, but this match
is all open. RKC is close on catching some points sooner or later, and NEC isn’t convincing enough to
be trusted at odds like these. No bet for me.
RKC has Mulder out, NEC has no worries.
