| Lask Linz has some problems in the defensive midfield because for this midweek round they will miss another time the 32 y.o. defensive midfielder Jürgen Panis (23/2), who got red carded agaist Ried and has to stay out for his second day of a 2 days ban, and the 23 y.o. brazilian central midfielder Wendel (17/3), suspended for one round after he got his fifth yellow card of the season against Sturm Graz last weekend. No big news about injuries, Lask's coach Karl Daxbacher will still miss the 25 y.o. right back Gerald Gansterer (8/0), who is still suffering for adductors problem after his come back in the Ried's match. The 18 y.o. central midfielder Ali Hamdemir (3/0) and the 21 y.o. central midfielder Ralph Spirk (3/0) are both not at their best form because of this hard flu that's going around in a lot of teams in these days. In Graz the 21 y.o. argentinian right back Matias Nicolas Rodriguez (1/0) made his debut. Rodriguez came together with his countryman Mariano Nestor Torres (2/0), the 20 y.o. left midfielder, from Boca Juniors to Linz during the winter break. Also the 27 y.o. offensive midfielder Richard Wemmer (1/0 and 19/6 in Erste Liga with Gratkorn) made his debut in Graz. Wemmer played a very good first part of the season in Gratkorn and looks like a useful upgrade for the Lask's midfield. With the missings of Wendel and Panis the midfield seems the main Daxbacher's problem for this match against Mattersburg. There a couple of options about the midfield and probably Daxbacher should field again the 31 y.o. bosnian midfielder Almedin Hota (23/0) in the center of the midfield with the 22 y.o. Christoph Saurer (22/3) on the left side as he did in the secon time in Graz coming in as a substitute for Torres. Another option should be to see the captain Ivica Vastic (22/8) comes back from the attack and playing in the central midfield with Hota leaving Saurer in the left side and Klein in the right side of the midfield and the 22 y.o. brazilian Adi (8/1) should play togheter with Christian Mayrleb (20/10) in the upfront section as he did in the second time in Graz. In defence surely we will see in the central positions Niklas Hoheneder and Michael Baur whilst in the left back the 26 y.o. polish Tomasz Wisio (15/1) could play from the first minute with Wolfgang Klapf (19/0) shifted in the right back instead of the argentinian Rodriguez as he did in the second half in Graz. Mattersburg's coach Franz Lederer has almost all his players available for this match against table leader of LASK Linz. The only missing is the 25 y.o. defender Adnan Mravac (25/0) who is suspended after he got his fifth yellow card of the season in his last match against Wacker Innsbruck. Not a big problem Mravac's missing because Mattersburg will have back the 22 y.o. defender Alexander Pöllhuber (16/1) who wasn't in the squad against Wacker last weekend because of a 1 day ban. Two Mattersburg players are not at their top of the form and they are the second goalkeeper Robert Almer (12/-), who is still struggling with the flu, and the 27 y.o. defender Anton Pauschenwein (9/0). Expected line-ups: LASK Linz: 1 Silvije Cavlina - 31 Matias Nicolas Rodriguez, 28 Michael Baur, 3 Niklas Hoheneder, 13 Wolfgang Klapf - 19 Florian Klein, 30 Richard Wemmer, 10 Almedin Hota, 20 Christoph Saurer - 9 Ivica Vastic - 17 Christian Mayrleb available: 23 Michael Zaglmair - 6 Tomasz Wisio, 4 Georg Margreitter, 21 Davorin Kablar - 26 Ralph Spirk, 29 Mariano Nestor Torres - 18 Mario Mijatovic, 11 Adi SV Bauwelt Koch Mattersburg: 1 Thomas Borenitsch - 26 Csaba Csizmadia, 2 Alexander Pöllhuber, 3 Goce Sedloski - 27 Cem Atan, 10 Dietmar Kühbauer, 5 Michael Mörz, 19 Markus Schmidt, 25 Christian Fuchs - 8 Carsten Jancker, 24 Ilco Naumoski available: 21 Robert Almer - 6 Anton Pauschenwein - 17 Akos Kovrig, 15 Jürgen Mansberger - 9 Thomas Wagner, 11 Matthias Lindner, 12 Patrick Bürger Referee: Thomas Einwaller Previous matches of this season: 2007-11-04 Austria Division 1 - Round 18 SV Mattersburg 0 - 0 Lask Linz 2007-08-25 Austria Division 1 - Round 8 Lask Linz 0 - 2 SV Mattersburg Lask is high flying at the moment and they really are going to fight for the title till the end of the season, they are the only team that won both matches in the first 2 rounds of 2008. Lask is a very experienced team (its best strikers Vastic and Mayrleb have 75 years in 2) and they are playing really solid in defence concedeing just 3 goals in their last 5 matches, being Hoheneder and Baur the best stoppers of the league imho (togheter with Sturm's Prödl of course). The new Argentinians and Wemmer brought a new power in Linz and the two missings of this round (Panis and Wendel) should be well replaced by coach Daxbacher. Mattersburg is coming from a good home win coming from a goal down against Wacker Innsbruck. It was an important result because Matterburg didn't win a single match in the previous 8 rounds and we have to underline that in the last 14 rounds they got a lot of draws but managed to win only against the two worst team of the league that are Wacker Innsbruck and Austria Kärnten. Mattersburg played a very good football last season reaching the Stiegl Cup's final (lost against Austria Vienna) and ending the Austrian first league at the third place (Red Bull Salzburg won) and they also started really well the first part of this season in 2006 summer but after all those good achievements they are looking like an average team at the moment not able to overperform against the best teams as they did in the past. Austrian first league is a very equal league, we all know that, so a Mattersburg replay of the 2-0 away win that they got in Linz in August it's not impossible but if LASK wants to fight for the title this is a kind of must win match especially because they are playing at home. It will be a though match but LASK should be able to prevail in the end even if without an enormous margin I believe in their win against Mattersburg; so the 2.31 offered by 188bet for the home win is worth a medium/high shot in my opinion and I also try an under 2.5 goals play at 2.02 offered by Pinnacle with good confidence. |
