Chelsea isn’t going through their best period, that’s for sure but they aren’t dead yet and should be feared by any opponent. The league win from Newcastle might give them a confidence boost against this do or die game against Valencia. They need only a win or a goalless draw here in order to advace but I doubt they will chose to preserve the result since Valencia can be a very dangerous opponent if given the chance.
Valencia is, at the moment, the best Spanish side after Real and Barca but still, the difference is quite big between them. They’ve rested some players in their 2-1 win against Espanyol in order to have them fresh for the England trip, only Ruiz being a definite out.
As I previously said, I strongly believe Chelsea will go for the win. They still have a lot of quality and experience in their squad, the later one being exactly what Valencia misses. The game from Valencia ended in a 1-1 draw, with the host equalizing late after a penalty. No team managed to win on the road so far in this group but all the 3 top teams managed to take advantage of their home turf. Last but not least, Chelsea was priced around 1,5 for their home game against the current group leaders Bayer, therefore today’s odds for their win represent some good value for money.
