Arsenal is already qualified from Group F and they can’t lose the first position, no matter the results from today. Therefore, Wenger left most of his regulars at home and travelled with a mixed squad of reserves or young players. Only Andre Santos and Vermaelen are in the travelling group from the team that won against Wigan in the weekend.
Oly desperately needs a win today in order to advance, this being combined with OM’s failure to win in Dortmund. They are traditionally strong at home, only OM winning this CL season, but the Greeks weren’t prepared for that clash since the domestic league was long delayed. They will miss Fejsa, Ibagaza and Fuster for this game.
It won’t be easy for Oly to win this one since Arsenal’s fringe players will probably give their best to impress their coach. This situation already happened once, 2 years ago, both teams being in the same situation like today and Oly snatching a hard fought win. I believe it will be the same scenario today and the Greeks will manage to overcome Arsenal’s youth enthusiasm with their experience.
